Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

A Chia head? She seems bored with it all. Another wonderful example of your singular work.

I'm at about an hour and 15 minutes here, and I think I did about 12 images. (And I still skipped a whole slew.) I had to end with this, because it's terrific. I'd buy it, even with the cracks (which aren't visible from the photo, btw). Your sculpted faces mix very primal mythic expression with straight-out comedy, and the combination is irresistible. They're what the ancients would've done if they were more comical. Love that it's a long neck and head, love the stuff on its neck, love that it seems to have popped out of the ground. And love its expression with that big nose, buddha earlobe (probably ears made for large earrings), love how it pops into the plant-tops, love the bulging whites of the eyes, and so on. Terrific piece. I'm amazed at how much you still have of these. It's great to comment here as always, Andrea, reflecting and ruminating on the teeming bazaar of your imagination. I didn't do as many nature shots, this time, but someone has to lose out when I have to choose. But I've loved them all. Hope to be back her soon---such great stuff!
(ps---I may be a few days late for your bday, but i'll get it soon after if not on the actual day. No gush, I promise. Just play and fantasy.)
