Description

So, back at my joint, I put several grass seeds into each small pot. Hopefully, no weed seeds got mixed in. Hmm, I wonder if search engines are reefer... I mean, referring people to this page by mistake! DON'T DO DRUGS!! But anyway... Here is some Poa supina. (For the pedantic types, I realize I should have used a small "s" on the pots. Too bad.) It is a cousin of Poa pratensis, otherwise known as Kentucky bluegrass or smooth meadow grass. Poa supina is found natively in the Alpine meadows of the actual Alps. Now it is available for planting all over the USA, which I assume is legal! A highly desirable feature of this grass is that it is the single most shade tolerant turf grass available. In addition, it also shows very good traffic tolerance. The downside is that it is expensive. So much so, that it is not to be wasted by planting in places it won't grow. Hence, the pots, as "location testers" before committing to more widespread planting. I'll give a further report in the fall to see how much of it survived. Until then... do you think there's something wrong with my camera lens??

What's with the camera lens? Ah, no Didi! Well, that's easily fixed. Nice shot of the new grass. Hope you find a good location for it and a cheap way of multiplying it once you have the right soil, shade, sun, etc... :-)
