Description

...and now for something totally different... I am trying to achieve a mood here by using colour and shapes, with one of my favourite subject's, namely 'ART-DECO' - I just lurve Art-Deco and Art Nouveau e.g. furniture, jewelry, fonts, architecture, paintings and not to forget interior designs... aaah... Art Deco also called style Moderne, a movement that originated in the 1920's [Art Nouveau is decorative, Art Deco is sleeker - think the Chrysler building]... * * * 'Children of the Night' [my title] probably a little unusual, but for me it conjures up their future and who will inherit what we started... [it wouldn't do them much good, living on the Moon or Mars one fine day ?] LOL * * * there is a similar one, following this one, just different colours... Cheers Brigitte

Yeah, I get that Art Deco feel/mood from the colouring and the blocking shapes, sort a reverse use of negative space...very cool result and you just gotta love the crazy little bats with 'worried about the future startled look', good one BB !

~Cheers~

this is a cool piece of art. Whenever I read or hear 'children of the night, I think of the quote from 'Love at First Byte' Children of the night...Shut Up!'

I like the way the curves flow around and past her body. Very nicely done.

I prefer this version that I find more readable in the details. Great art work for these two creations, Brigitte!

Very creative. The bats are a nice touch. When I saw your title I immediately thought of my old friend Bela.

“Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make.”

You did awesome here, Brigitte, I'm impressed by all you made, in a way it's touching too. The child is uplifting, and all the swirls with their colours are so very lively, as a dance on lovely music. Music is in the air here 😇

Yes, it's very Art Deco---your shapes dominate the piece, with those modern geometric lines and swirls everywhere. And, into all that, you put some bats, and that young woman: She's created with the stylized lines and presence of, yes, Art Deco-inspired painting and sculpture. You see figures like this in Art Deco ornament (like the Chrysler Building). Lots of tall dark pillars of shadow on top, and the woman seems a young goddess in the lower portion. A mythic image...and "Children of the Night" suits it perfectly. Really well done, Brigitte.
