Description

All of us have an image and a consideration of ourselves different from what we see to others. We see ourselves reflected in a magical mirror that alters reality, and gives us the idea of being what we want to be and not what we are. Imagination can also transform real figures to interpretate the concept, like, for example, in this my old image: 15a3be42fe6dd60374428128adc8c84c_large.j

Most folks never look. Their view of the outside is a soft pliable surface that yields to them in proportion to how big they are. Sometimes it grapples but more often it is just blown back.

So true. Sometimes I feel the same way. Only that I see something in the mirror, which is not really there. The mirror shows thick, but I am not .... Very good presentation!!! Do you still know Shallow Hal??

Solo deliziosi, come nella vita reale, potrei essere me stesso dove mi aspetto più giovane e più sottile. Grande idea e realizzazione di questa opera d'arte!

Another brilliant vision from you. The white, large woman looks into her reflection, and she sees a dark, thin woman. But, maybe the dark, thin woman is looking at the white, large woman. You've created a deep ambiguity. And the dark woman is muscular, while the white woman is not.

But there's something else: There's no real 'mirror' here: The opening in the wall appears to be a mirror---but maybe it's not a mirror. This is "reality and imagination": Maybe there is no mirror: There are just two women, imagining each other. This is a confrontation between life and imagination, and it can go both ways---from one woman to the other.

You set this in one of your rich "bath-houses". You created those luminous tiles, once more. And the colors---many variations of greens and blues (with some yellows and whites)---are rich and restful. These tile environments (which you use in a number of your images) feel like public bath-houses, places where people come to be cleansed. They're separate of our living rooms and bedrooms, etc: They're places of cleansing...So there is a feeling of purification in these places. Maybe these women are purifying themselves, by peering into each other.

Then, you have cats, once more; they are sometimes your "Greek Chorus". And old books. This is beautifully done, as always; your details are crystalline, the colors are striking (as are your shadows), and you illustrate your theme beautifully. Beautifully done, once more.

We all suffer from a certain measure of vanity, I guess. It need not be entirely a bad thing; making oneself look better can help a great deal in developing self-confidence. :)

Very clever mirror effect trickery. Didn't know cats could be vain as well, though!
