Description
Holi celebrations, Nasik, Maharashtra. The Holi - sometimes called the festival of colors or Phalgunotsava - is the Hindu festival of the vernal equinox. It originated in the Vasantotsava, both a celebration and rite of spring fertility. It is celebrated throughout India for two days during the full moon of Phalguna, which falls from February to March. The Holi is dedicated to Krishna in northern India and Kama in the south.
