my sister once lived in a house maybe less than 20' from tracks. I spent the night there as a child and I can vaguely recall the thunderous noise from passing trains.

Pretty good condition for an oldie, as Richard said living that close to the tracks would be scary and I would be surprised if someone still lived there, maybe there are not that many trains passing ?...or the owners are very old and very deaf ?...LOL
