I have seen these wedding photographers at work in midtown Chicago by hazard - sometimes I wanted to do this kind of work but later, I think, what a luck I don't have to create something that others want - I am a lucky and free hobby photographer 😃
the lady with the purple / lila hair colors seems to be the boss and she did her job great I think.

Yes, we are lucky just to enjoy ourselves. I have done weddings when we still used film...such stress!

When I was in Chicago in September of 2009, there were 12 or 14 wedding parties having their pictures taken outdoors, mostly in Grant Park in front of that amazing fountain. I had a great time taking pictures of people having their pictures taken by other people. LOL! :)

Been there - done that and you are right Priska, a very stressful job and in fact I turned down a wedding job only last evening. I don't do it any more.

I hated homework when I was in school...think of all the homework wedding photography entails! Like you candid photo and the story it tells to each of us.

Great capture and I totally agree with you. I take when and where I want to. No pressure!

(I'm skipping only for time, but I've seen all your Chicago photographs, and I've loved every one...)
I did wedding photography twice, and it was all I could take. The pros have to know lights, and reflectors, and all the protocols of the faith of the newlyweds (assuming they marry in a religion)---you don't want to shoot at the wrong time, during a service!---and then all the different family 'combinations'; and then, you have to make albums, prints, it goes on...It takes learning, time, money and patience; great for people who love it, but not great for those who don't...In any case, you've captured a real photoshoot, with your (again) muted black and white; and your composition. It's almost a 'procession', in your composition, which brings out the ceremonial quality of the job. And I love the woman's hair---you let her purple stay in the shot---and the guy behind him, ready for the command. And the near abstract design of the background, with a gentle blue tint (maybe with a little magenta in it). A terrific longitudinal shot of concentration and readiness. Great job.
