Description
Or a variety thereof, probably looking for something to kiss, captured back on 5/26/2011, in the Tropical Reef section of the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Aquarium photography is not easy and highly challenging. The toughest I've ever encountered. Ever try photographing a moving object through thick glass, darting in and out and up and down, in low light, without a flash, and often amidst undisciplined kids?

Let's call this a good capture. The subject is well centered in the frame. Considering the fish is moving and/or your camera was in motion when snapping the shot'.

You write about the challenges of aquarium photography (they don't allow flashes? if so, I guess it makes sense---it would fill the place with blasts of light all the time). I imagine it would be very frustrating to tackle all those intrusions...Well, you got a bang-up shot of this majestic fish, your crop puts him right in the front of our view, his tail is just gorgeous---captured almost a opaque glass or light emerald---and he dominates the shot majestically. The background 'surrounds' his face very nicely, too. A powerful flush-forward capture; and you tackled the challenge beautifully.
