Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

NO IPADS ALLOWED in that hanger!

Those peculiar dropped wings to accommodate the large prop(?), so I am told, make it quite distinctive. I saw some mustangs at an air show in Knoxville last year and one flying Corsair. I like the sound of engine and prop on that special warbird. Great perspective and choice of monochrome in your photo.

Yes, incredibly shiny. The light bouncing off what looks like a jet black plane creates a very dramatic glossy effect...

Fabulous capture of this sweet machine

Great P.O.V. Those wings were a dead giveaway. Over 72 years old and still ready to fly. I hope I can say the same thing when I get there.

One of my favorite planes! I never thought I'd have a favorite plane. Do you think one day I might have a favorite battlefield?
... Nah ...
LOL!

Bill, I'm only doing a couple of images tonight---just a brief visit---so I won't hardly do justice to your wonderful offerings, though I've seen them all. So I'll have to save the larger session for some day in the near future. For now, I picked this, among the many, for its stunning light and sheen and sweep. In fill view, you caught the sweep of the metal and its reflected light, you caught the massing of the pilot's section and the front propeller---how it all "bunches up" there, visually, and how the plane sweeps out from there like big sweeps of light. The blacks are deep and rich; and the light from the windows is strong balance to all that black. You did a splendid job with black and white, getting shimmering highlights and deep darks. And your composition---with the biggest conglomeration of mass in the right half of the shot, and much more openness on the left---is wonderful. A really fine capture of a real beauty. I can see why this place calls you so...
