Second in a series of airbrush art I used while seeking a technical illustrator/graphics artist job/jobs way back in the 20th century. This, along with several others, was done in the early 1950s, applied on art board, using a real airbrush with thin paints, attached to either a compressed air tank or to a motorized air compressor. I doubt if many of you were around back then to participate in or witness this art genre. The above was executed not only with an airbrush alone, but also using plastic templates and masks. A steady hand and a delicate touch was the name of the game.
A ZOOM is highly recommended.

"A steady hand and a delicate touch was the name of the game"---exactly. When we heard about airbrushing, we thought it was a free-for all until we actually tried it. To get meticulous detail like this---and perfect blends---takes great patience, slowness, and an unfailingly keen eye. Your shadow and reflection work is perfect; and you made a single 'part' into a shining, mysterious presence.
And the variation fits it perfectly: It's like it's being refracted in a rippled pond. The variation doesn't take anything away from the original, but feels like it's being placed against mildly distorting mirrors...With nothing but black and white, you created gradations which almost make this feel like color---fine black and white work. You made a single mechanical object alive and powerful. Extremely well done, Harry. A well-deserved Wow.

Ditto to Mark's comments. Meticulous, patients and some imagination is brought out in your work. Worthy of framing a real masterpiece.

Amazing you were able to make it so gradated with the materials you had. I have seen people paint with spraybrushes, but havent seen it that accurate. Well done Harry !
