Description

For only the second time for several months we did a long river walk, as Ralph has gone deaf and I can leave the house with the girls without him noticing. He can only manage short walks in his old age, so we do a quick one first before we go. We did 6 km or 3.75 miles, which doesn't sound much, but we photograph insects all the way so we were out nearly three hours! My brother does that same walk with his old dog, who is still fairly fit, in about 3/4 hour! I can't keep up with him any more. Tiffany had lots of little swims in the river and is getting used to it. She might even get to enjoy it! The colour version Here

I actually prefer this version. You gave it a wonderfully vintage look. Sorry to hear about Ralph's continued decline. Poor old boy, I hope he makes it through the summer.

Like the mono. Meadow is the same as Ralph, she never misses a trick though.

If Tiffany does enjoy her little swims, she probably won't tell you. Our Mandy was very close mouthed about that sort of thing:) Like your fisherman...mono always draws my attention.

I've wanted to comment on this, because of how you illuminated sepia. I always approach sepia with trepidation, because it's not easy to make it 'sing'. It saturates everything. But man, you got luminance here---it's in the original, but all the moreso here. I love the lights here; and your softness allows the lights to be like 'thoughts'. The fisherman's line is the connection between one bank and the other, and your handling of the stones around him make it seem like a fairy tale path in the middle of a lush forest. If he were in medieval attire, this could be scene from a fairy tale. Beautiful composition and handling of sepia. Beautiful lights throughout. A dream.
