where the tall trees grow up along the sides of the taller mountains lies the mysteries that elude man

This is a gorgeous view of California, far from the apocalyptic sight of the horrendous fires that are ruining the country.. A superb photo indeed .

Twin Peaks! LOL This is really spectacular, Richard! Everything perfectly exposed, and sharp.

Excellent capture! We have a rock formation very similar to this. We call it "The Devil's Gate" because seen from a small town called Panchimalco, it looks like the open wings of a bat

wonderful view onto rocks and sky with the playful cloud ☺

Richard, I'm not online these days except for special uploads (people's illness, loss, etc), so I'm not in the galleries except for those purposes. But every so often I need to come here and comment, because I see everything you post, and because you remain one of the very best. I chose this photo because it is, to me, about balance and clarity and contrast and texture. It's a beautiful enough scene, to be sure---and one you sure as hell won't see in Chicago!---but it has qualities you put into all your photos: Balance in composition, the beautiful contrast between that wool-like tree cover and the bare ground and rock around it, contrast between the land and the crystal sky, clarity in the trees and ground---in what feels like sheep's fleece---and clarity in the mounds themselves. It's just subtle fine work. There are more spectacular sights in the West, South and Southwest, but you find balance in anything you capture, and this is a perfect example of that.
