Description

Historical theme, I like them. There's problem with lack of props and clothes for historical scenes generally. I had to re-texture ship materials becouse they were too much ugly for close look .. hard work, if UV mapping don't fit clouse snapshot

Splendid re-creation of a piece of our history of which we are not proud. John Newton gave up slaving about 1754. He wrote the hymn "Amazing Grace"

"Amazing Grace" was published in 1779.

Newton wrote the words from personal experience. He was pressed into service in the Royal Navy, and after leaving the service, became involved in the Atlantic slave trade. In 1748, a violent storm battered his vessel off the coast of Ireland so severely that he called out to God for mercy, a moment that marked his spiritual conversion. He continued his slave trading career until 1754 or 1755, when he ended his seafaring and began studying Christian theology.
