They are exuvia..that is they are empty skins from which the adult dragonflies have emerged. No training required.

I'm not officially back, but I wanted to leave a few more comments for you since it's been too long. (And I see everything regardless, as I always say.) (to the point of boring my fans to death) I Love this circular huddle against sheer white. And all the detail on the shells. It's beautiful and creepy how some insects leave their remains in such a fine state. It makes a helluva picture, and from here it could just as well be living insects, huddling over strategy. A really fine addition to your meeting-drawings. Love it.
