I am so confused. I only watched Dr. Who back in the 60's and only for a few episodes and the Tardis there looked like a phone booth from Great Britain.

Dr Who's own Tardis couldn't change shape - the 'Chameleon Circuit' was broken; but other Tardises could alter their external appearance to fit in with their surroundings.
