Description
Just back from a trip to the northern California coast with our grandson. We went as far south as Mendocino & visited many beautiful places along the way, including several redwood parks, beaches & interesting towns. A great time, but photographically a nightmare. I must have inadvertently changed a setting on my camera, because things started to go wrong & as I began trying to change settings to fix it, I'd create a new problem & never did get things working right. The first thing that happened was that my focusing options changed. When I fixed that, my ISO button no longer would allow me to control my ISO setting & every time I went to a faster shutter speed, the ISO would bump up into the thousands (all while in manual mode, where I normally have total control of aperture, shutter speed & ISO). In frustration I reset to factory settings (since I hadn't done any real customization anyway) & forgot that doing that would reset to not shooting in RAW, so the last half of the trip's picture are just JPEG. I think I still have some decent photos to share, but not nearly as good as I had hoped. Live & learn...
This was taken at Palmer's Point in Patrick's Point State Park near Trinidad, California. A not very long, but very steep trail led us to some great tidepools, teeming with marine life. Aside from the steepness of the trail, the tidepool areas were very slippery with much seaweed, so i wouldn't recommend this area unless you're pretty fit & have a good sense of balance. There are hundreds of anemones living o the rocks in this photo...
Please zoom.

What a joy to see all these! A nuisance about the camera. I don't even know what RAW means!

Came out relatively well considering your camera problems.

Nothing so simple, unfortunately - I recharge my battery every night when I'm on a trip.

Terrific composition, with the rocks, seaweed and anemones.
