Description
Third in a series of airbrush art I did solely for the purpose of just messing around, employing but one color. This, along with several others, was done in the early 1950s, applied on art board, using a real airbrush with thin paints, and attached to either a compressed air tank or to a motorized air compressor. I doubt if many of you were around back then to participate in or witness this art genre. The above was executed not only with the airbrush alone, but also with masks of paper stock.
A steady hand and a delicate touch is the name of the game.

Very different from the previous boat, as this one has more straight lines, and that beautiful bunch of leaves in the upper right corner. Man, you have drawing skills on a high order, Harry. I know this is airbrush, but you have to know shading, contour and modeling (as in giving something 3 dimensions) in order to airbrush this way. Love the boat's reflection, and your abstract way with water, sky and clouds. And your shading is deep and lush throughout. And those leaves are wonderfully bulbous and full, and make a great accent. Also the top sky is rich and lush too.
Harry I've done 3 of these tonight, and I'll finish the rest the next time, which I hope is soon. (Along with others of your many uploads). I saw---in the fuel adapter upload---that it was the last of the series: I'm sorry to see it end.) (And those fuel adapters were painted beautifully! I can't get over that they're not pencil or ink drawings! Beautiful meticulous detail.) You have much to be proud of with this work. I saw the line drawings you showed me (for building planes, if I recall), and I'd have never guessed how much you could do with wholly different techniques as well. This is wonderful work. Take care of yourself, and I'll write back soon.
