Description
The days are short, it is almost winter solstice down here in Christchurch and the sun is low. The worst time to take pictures - either too bright or too dark with long shadows. But we didn't really have that much of a choice, since we are on a tour. This is the Cathedral Square in 'downtown' Christchurch and it looks anything but a 'downtown' - the effects of the devastating earthquakes. Not many tourists around, its not the season, but there are some hardy souls that manage to keep an upbeat attitude. They play checkers, or chess, and there are some onlookers. There is also an old guy that preaches - I think - in a very loud voice, is totally ignored, and doesn't make any sense. Freedom of speech.

It wasn't actually that warm. Its winter down there and the temp was around 5C!
