Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

From the crows feet I can guess that she smiles a lot. And as one who has none I can concur that she has a massive head of hair. One might think she was a judge at the Old Bailey. A lovely portrait of a very pretty woman.

with Claude, you captured the spark of life here. (And what's with Andrew's comment, lol? And since when did huge images become a 'comment'? It wasn't that way when I joined RR. Now, people put these huge images in their comments. I'm gonna start putting scientific treatises in mine; or technical manuals. Cook books. The Manhattan phone directory. Spice things up a bit...) This is a marvelous portrait Andrea, you really did capture her spark, her spirit. And your angle is just right, I mean it's a great slight turn to our right, and the shadow and light is just right. ANd your sepia is perfectly used. Terrific portrait among many. Well, I really can't do a lot right now, so I regrettably must leave; but it's a pleasure as always, and next time I'll spend a lot more time. And you know---if one only saw your nature closeups, they'd think you have a huge wilderness around you. Amazing how much you capture in and around your home.
