My very first thought was, and I'll stick with that eventhough there's a completely different approach most people would go for: this is totally "Miles Away" by Savatage (from the "Edge of Thorns" album).

Might be far fetched at first glance, but the way the "monster" touches the child's cheek is very soft and caring. Due to this I am pretty sure the tears (which do look phenomenal!) are not 'cause of the monster, but maybe something or someone else. In my world, I experienced far too often that the so called "good people" are the most sinister and evil folks you can imagine. Maybe that's why I am rather drawn to see a good side in "evil" characters. For me, this "monster" acts as if it wants to let the child know that it all will be alright again.

Or maybe I am just an idiot and see it completely wrong, which would be ok. :) Cause then we'd have a monster that tears apart the child or tempts it to join the dark side... horror as clichee as it can be (but: would it be a "Saidge" then? Hmmmm)

Very fascinating picture anyways! One of the best I've seen so far - in my eyes. No, not one of the best... I declare this my absolute favourite! A masterpiece! 'Nuff said (as if this wall of text was not enough already lol)

ok, so I meant to send you a site mail before I posted this, but, yeah, life happened (I hope to get one out to you tonight or tomorrow ;) ). Anyway, this is the NIGHTMARE/DEMON piece that you completely inspired, so I totally have to thank you for that. I have to tell, you this one made me work for it, and I think I made several total turn-around changes before I landed on this, lol.

Those lyrics are just so cool!! I love them! What a picture and feel they create! Now as for the point of the "monster", you do know me so well ;) No, it's not there just to have her join the dark, or rip her to pieces...... at least not exactly. You were totally on track when you were talking about 'good' ppl being evil. In this case, yeah, it's the monster she knows..... the monster she has had in her life forever....... the one she thought was in her corner, only to find out how evil, sick, and twisted it really is..... the one that now has nothing left within it to love.... I think you know where I'm going with all this. So yes, it is going to try to rip her to pieces, but the tears aren't just for herself - there are other concerns.

So, all of that said, I'm really glad you like it, lol, since you were the one who planted the idea (good inspiration only!!). So when I tell you that your comment here and on fb made my day, believe it - you made me smile something real! thank you so so much :D
