I posted one of these some years back, but that was a cactus rose shot in the wild. This one is in captivity. I have to wonder if this flower (one like it actually) is part of the inspiration for "Yellow Rose of Texas". There is more to the song than that for certain, but inspiration has to start somewhere. We've had several baby cacti like this over the years. The first ones usually ended up entangled in the fur of Buzzard: our first cat who was a long-hair of some sort. A tad too small IMO to be a true Maine Coon cat but she had those tendencies. The name? Well she could be a cranky old buzzard but it's actually a corruption of her title: The Buzzer (because of the extraordinarily loud purr that came from her). Naturally that became corrupted into The Buzzard, etc. Cripes! Any excuse to go down totally unrelated rabbit holes! We start out with a flower, move on to a song, and end up with a cat.
