Description

Thanks for stopping by for a peek. Every Labor Day weekend a three day event of the city's sponsored hot air balloon festival. We almost lost it after last year, but ended up keeping it for now. I'm very fussy about my photography, I'll take 50 shots like I did today and will only be satisfied with about 10. Using only a 5 mega pix phone only. Thanks for your support and TGIF. I'll be posting my normal image for Friday after this.

well maybe I have seen your photos after all...I just don't remember them in the past: I have to come back here later, and look for your photos...I fully understand taking 50 shots and only using a few. That's pretty common (and why digital is so much cheaper than film!) You got big bold clarity in these, for a cellphone. They're all big and bold, and that top center one is wonderful because that huge balloon is hovering over the crowd like a god, while the whites of the tents (and bright yellows) make a great contrasts to the balloon. The 2d down on the left, has a cool looking lady who looks like the's been doing this a long time; the one below is awash in great hues, with the people adding their own colors to the sight; the bottom middle one really brings home the scale of these monsters (and you caught the size of the crowd here too!); and the lower right image brings out the whole 'din' of the affair, with all the balloons and people, and all that shade against all that light. Love these. A real carnival feeling.

Great shots of these colorful hot air balloons, seen from several POVs, all the more considering you were using a smartphone. It's been decades since I last attended a balloon festival, that one in Albuquerque, NM, where I used a film camera, so I was limited as to my number of shots.
