Description

This little gray squirrel is about 4 weeks old. We had some severe storms yesterday and last night. He was found wet and cold on the ground this morning. After a warm bath and warm formula he fell asleep with the nipple in his mouth. Since he doesn't seem inclined to let go I just put him to bed with it.

We live in the woods, and have squirrels and chipmunks galore! The juvenile squirrels like to chase each other around the old alder tree that's at the corner of our lot. They ei-ei-ei at each other the whole way! Around the trunk, out to the end of a long branch, back on another branch, out a branch on the other side of the tree, drop down to the ground, rustle through the dead leaves (rustle rustle rustle) ... THEN! they pop back up, run around the trunk, and start all over. SO amusing to watch! They have value just for being who they are, and I'm glad you're nursing this little one. I hope he's soon out playing in the trees with his cousins!

Aaaaaw! How cute! Hope you can find mom. I'm sure she's very sad her baby is gone. I've read auntietk comment. They ARE so fun to observe! Here the squirrels are red-brown with black ear tufts. Unfortunately, not that many around (cats???). Bev, let us know how things work out for this little fellow. Also, I didn't know you had severe storms, too. A side sweep from that hurricane that devastated Texas and Louisiana? Keep up the good work! :-)
