Description

Harry (goodoleboy) has just come out of the hospital. And he's had months, now, of one health crisis after the next. I've heard about them as they unfolded, and you could see that they were taking an increasing toll on his health, his endurance, and his ability to move, walk, and live comfortably. I won't enumerate them all, just to say that he's been effected in his back and legs to where he couldn't walk for many weeks; to his digestive tract to where he was eating a 'monk's' diet; to his eyesight, and so on. (There's a lot in that 'so on'...) As a result, he's been inundated with medical visits, meds, waits, insurance calls and so on: a real nightmare. It's been a rainfall of problems; and now hospitalization.
I've not mentioned this, only because Harry doesn't talk about it in public very often. But I had to---I've honored so many others with problems: So Harry, please allow me to do it for you as well. You deserve all the healing you can get.
I prepared this photo for you, as you always speak so eloquently of my neighborhood and its beautiful architecture, etc. So I took this shot of Astor Street---a very special street---and gave it my own 'touch'. And I dedicate it to you, for your constant support and wonderful observations, for your long and fearless journeys into your own city (L.A.), capturing things most people wouldn't bother to look at (and finding the art in it all). And for your friendship.
I wish you strength and endurance, with the power to keep fighting all those ailments; and to keep capturing the world around you. All my healing to you, with love and respect, and the hope that you recover from these latest intrusions as well as possible; and thanks for everything you do here, Harry,
Mark

More wonderful architectural details & though I'm viewing this via modern technology, it transports me back to a pre-electronic era, when life seemed a lot simpler & less cluttered. Best wishes to Harry for better health...

A very beautiful and loving tribute to Harry, in words and photo. I really love the pink hue in this wonderful capture. There is something so healing about the color. I could be quite content going through life with everything enhanced by a rosey glow.

I came out of my hospitalization, which was a period of hell and am still stigmatized by it all, and was surprised to find this wonderful architectural photo and dedication waiting for me to appreciate and enjoy. Plus the following heartfelt comments of your fellow artists. I am humbled by it all. Sorry I'm late with my response but I'm still in a state of quasi recovery. This is so great of you to conjure up, even more so considering your own limited time and physical problems to contend with, and are really good at creating this thoughtful genre of birthdays and dedications. As for my innumerable ailments, medical visits, tests, medications, etc., it would easily take several pages to list them all. It's a wonder I even exist. As for your photo, another top capture, just teeming with opulent architecture, manicured foliage, and rich color, Mark. Thank you so much, and be well, my friend.

Dear Mark, I was very intrigued by this wonderful picture of yours, and then, since I have not planned (unfortunately) a view in Chicago, I wanted to do a virtual tour of this magnificent city with Google Earth. I managed to find the road and house that you have photographed and I was fascinated by the architecture and the so green that gives a true sense of peace and tranquility . My best wishes to Harry for a quick recovery!!
