The poor Caribbean. It is completely outside our experience here in the Uk. We haven't had a storm just some winds enough to shred the Musa bajoo leaves. We are very lucky. Another Here

They can take a beating even in moderate winds. I saw video of the storm in Barbuda last night. Palm trees bent almost double and then the tops of the trees were literally ripped off.

I loved so many of those place now trashed... I was once a very active scuba diver and pilot to the islands..Now I expect I might lose my home and everything here in Jensen Beach, FL. Combat did not test my nerves like this. I am evacuating a short distance to a friends hopefully safer structure. Things are getting quite testy with folks with shortages and the reason drain post Harvey in TX, LA, etc. I will go dark soon trying to save as much as I can before "last call"... it may be some time till I can get back to enjoying all your wonderful posts. I have followed you for many years Andrea and you please give the dogs a treat for my Maltese, Mickey & Me!
