around 1949 to 50. has a channeled roof which is very difficult for a fast back style roof and also has been made into a hard top with no center post

Definitely leads one off to look at an alternative to Barris and the Merc. Harley Earl might blanch. This point of view makes the point. Hint: Channeling refers to dropping the body down over the frame and chopping refers to lowering the roof on classic 30's rods. As you observed this is more like sectioning that came with the slab sided bodies of the early 1950's. A very large and curved part of the body has been dropped down not at all like a classic chop. Never saw this done before so your image is instructive and not at all subject to criticism.
