Well done, what a triumph!

A masterful shot! The isolation of the figure from her surroundings gives this a timeless quality. It makes me think of a Renaissance painting.

Though I'm not commenting right now (I'm offline), I wanted to stop by and honor another of your masterful works, and send all my wishes for your 2018, and thank you for the depth and quality you bring to us each time you're here. I've missed several of your images, in the recent weeks/months, and I'm sorry. (I've missed some other artists' work too, incl some artists I adore, but that's no excuse. I've been uneven when here on RR, and absent, even more. I found out about your artist of the month a day ago, and left a comment---but comments have to be approved, so it won't go up until monday, I assume. I've seen all your work in the last months, regardless of my absences. And, while I could comment on any of them with equal passion, I chose this because it's so unusual. This isn't typical of your Corel-photos, of course: It's a very bold, stark and clean image; but it's you, all the same. And it's hard to explain "how"...It has a 17th C. Dutch feeling (Vermeer comes to mind), but also an avant garde 20th C feeling too: It's almost surreal, and crystal clear. I love the solid black around the woman, and how she's clothed in black as well. And her head-dress (can't tell if it's a hat or not) has solid blacks as well. By contrast, you bring out her bright neck and lower portion of her face, and a bright red behind her. Your "soloing" here is stunning: Her silhouette-like presence is equally stunning. And the effect is of a very intense 'moment', which, though it's only a moment, seems pregnant with great presence and mystery, as if she's concentrating on something very weighty, and the darkness around her brings it out. You know how to handle space as few photographers I know, and you're bold enough to let it become a major 'player' in a number of your images. This is powerful, expressive and beautiful. And, for all the blatant (and few) hues, it's amazingly delicate. Beautiful work, Nikolay, as always. I hope your 2018 is wonderful for you and your loved ones. And congratulations on being honored here. You deserve all of it.
