crits and comments welcome, i have just recently starting using home-made surface maps, so any ideas for improvement and all are welcome

Oh, well. If the sun comes from ahead, the terrain lays in shadow, thats a real problem with terragen. Try to enlight the multidirectional shadow lighting colors in the suns menue (background light). For creating a good snow surface you need 5 or more layers in different white/light grey colors, with different bumpiness and scale+depth. Scale+depth is the thickness of the several surface layer, for snow i choose settings from 15 till 28.
