Description
Here is a colorful image of a pair of mating Damselflies.
I do not have an identification for this species.
The male is the one who has clasped a female by the back of the head. Many Dragonfly species do the same.
After hooking up, the male , while still grasping the female, hovers over vegetation where the female lays the fertilized eggs.
Occasionally, The male misjudges the distance to the water and inadvertently holds the female's head under water where she drowns.

I've actually seen them flying while attached like this--quite a gymnastic feat! I wonder if this is where we got our in-flight refueling concept for our planes. lol
