Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

(I still have to get used to the "u" in colour, from Britain. I assume that goes back to the Norman invasion, where they left all kinds of French-isms on the then Germanic Old English.) (You know what the norman invasion is, right? 2 gazillion guys named norman invading england. Not too funny, but hey, ya don't hear a lotta jokes about William the Conqueror and 1066...) Love your watercolor effects here---same shiny paper? You've written that watercolors evade you: They do me too. That watercolor I posted today was ancient---the 90s---and I've never been able to duplicate that series. (I had a whole slew of them.) Water-coloring flowers? architecture? not possible. The brushes are too soft, the medium's like water (duhhhh) and it drives me freakin' crazy. But...I love the way your edges smear here, and the colors are terrific. Esp with those reds and yellows and oranges against that day glo green---love your choices. And another of your characteristic people: A few lines and you have a nose, cheek lines and an expression. Love it.
