Description
Nothing actually new: terrain used in my 'Moonloop'-pic, yet.
Io is a snapshot via CELESTIA (thx to Pastoret for the marvellous hint!), and finally some postwork in PhotoPaint, that's it. Just to see what's possible!

The surface and colors are fantastic!

Excellent terrain and surface, in my opinion the planet maybe put in other place! Do you use Celestia for the planet isn it? =) Ezequiel de Argentina.

Super! ;o)

Nice surface and overall theme. The black border on the horizon is the only thing holding this scene back. I've struggled with the same problem when combining skies & landscapes. At first I just used a narrow softening brush and traced the horizons - this worked okay but was tedious. Next I tried to select the black area of the sky, then expand the selection one pixel and invert the selection. (Thus avoiding those half-toned edge pixels. This worked much better, but I still found I had to use a soften brush. I've finally settled on this method: Select black area, expand two pixels (sometimes you can get away with one pixel)and invert as above. Now Feather back towards the black one pixel. This helps give a natural blend between land & sky.

I actually don't like the sky too much (seems fairly low-res). However, the bottom of the image is fantastic, utterly realistic! I think it would go well with a realistic sky. About the black line, if you have Photoshop you can select the ground layer and go to Layers -> Matting -> Defringe by one or two pixels; that might give you some pretty good results.

Yes, you are all right with that black line; I should have expanded the bare non-sky area about 1 or 2 pixel. But I thought this pic only for a test with that new CELESTIA proggie; C. allows saved scenes (in jpeg) with maximum pic format of 1260 x 980. But I hope, future releases will allow higher resolutions. Thank you all for your helpful comments! Lutz
