When we sat on your parents’
Wooden back porch steps
And watched the sunrise
Just beyond the garage.
We were young
The wind was wild
But the breeze was gentle
And we didn’t worry about time.
Sometimes we sang
All the songs we knew
While watching late night movies
And talking of Shakespeare libraries.
Can you remember?
It was spring
The place where journeys begin
When we threw our curtain open
To merge with the dawn.
