Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Not exactly a bird in a gilded cage but you certainly won't miss him. A wonderful voice that is similar to a woman's mezzo-soprano.

classical musicians who study and perform medieval and renaissance have this whole other air...they can afford to dress and make themselves up like this, in a way that Schubert Lieder specialists can't. Love the capture, and I'm commenting on it---a non inktober piece!---only because I worked with counter tenors and other early style singers, and I just had to acknowledge this. I went to his site when you posted this, and yep, he's a counter tenor alright. (I'm skipping the obvious jokes about 'counter tenors': you'll thank me when you get older...) I was really happy you posted this, this is the kind of person we'd normally not see on rr, and I imagine people who don't know what a 'counter tenor' is would just think this was yet another adult dressed for a carnival. Would you believe that, in my computer-based instrument libraries, I have a whole library of counter tenors? So I can play beautifully recorded counter tenors on a synthesizer keyboard plugged into my computer. Love that you posted this. Now back to the inktobers...
