The old Chicago "El". (Elevated train.)
Downtown Chicago...
3 pics today...only because I go so long w/out posting.
Thanks so much for commenting when it takes me so many days to comment back: I'm still commenting, and I'll get to you all, I promise!
Also:
Another shout-out and hug to Steve (eekdog), who---thank goodness---did not have a major condition. (He saw his doctor yesterday.)
He was nevertheless in dire pain. He's had a tough year, and I send all my best to him, that he should feel the light shine all over his life once more. Get better soon Steve!

Fascinating shot, Mark. I love the way everything in this photo recedes in parallel to the vanishing point - the "El", the roadway, the lights, the planter beds, the sidewalk & the awnings. A great POV, which I'm thinking may be from a balcony?

The composition here is about as perfect as it gets. Awnings, sidewalk, street lights, street, railroad all leading into the distance. The image really grabs you by the eyeballs.

What a delicious (visually speaking LOL) image this is, Mark! Not only do the leading lines pull your eye right into the image, but those wonderful lights absolutely rivet you into this scene. And they cast a wonderful, warm glow on the bridge and awnings. A wonderful image, buddy!
Yes - wonderful news about Steve! I hope his pain lessens quickly.

By mistake, I have deleted your three upload, which never were my intentions. I love this piece with the awnings and the perspective. The awnings remind me of a crazy video on youtube, I saw about a railroad somwhere in Asia, where they used every inch of the railroad for a market. The train had to go through so slowly, that they could manege to pull in all the awnings and move away some of the food they were selling.... Yes, some of it. What could still remain under the train were still under it when it passed. Amazing. "your " awnings made me think about that. hmm...In case you havent seen it, you should... I will find it and send you a link. :)

The highlighting of the lights of the street lamps make this photo very interesting! Great work Mark!

What everybody said about the perspective. Of course.
AND! I don't think I've ever seen Chicago's sidewalk planters from just this angle before. They look like graves, all lined up with lamps at the head of each. Did anybody think of looking there for Jimmy Hoffa?
