Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I can see why you were disappointed by the (lack of) sharpness, but I agree that the composition, color & light are very appealing. If you don't zoom to full size, the softness is actually pretty nice, giving it a kind of impressionistic feel...

Very nice capture Andrea.
It's okay for me that the photo isn't so sharp. So it has a nice soft touch.

sometimes soft is better - this is one of those times - wonderful photo

What a lovely avenue, great trees.

I agree with the others on the softness. This looks like such a pleasant walk. The only trees on my street are street lamps.

I looked at it full view, and thought it was even better! The softness suits the mood. You have a wonderful eye for post work!

I wanted to add this to my "inktober" comments because I've worked with a lot of old photos which had little clarity or sharpness, and had to 'rescue' them. Your full view, here, gives an impressionistic painterly feeling, and it works very suggestively. And yes, the composition is wonderful, and it magnetizes us to the far point in the distance. (This reminds me of some of our streets around here, only this is thicker and more lush.) And you got a kind of 'milky' quality to the leaves and bark. It's quite appealing.
I have several ways of treating slightly blurred photos. I'll give you one here, and you have to try it out, because it doesn't work on every image. Try "Smart Blur" (in P.Shop). When you open the dialogue, the default is probably: Radius 3.0 Threshold 25.0
If it's not, set it to those.
Start out with "Low" setting, as it's the least. Try it. Then do it again, until you get the blur you want. (High gives you much more per try, whereas Low allows you to gradate it. You can lower the Radius and Threshold settings too.)
By using Smart Blur---gradually---you soften the artifacts of an out-of-focus pic, and flatten them. The flattening is key. Then gently---gently---sharpen. And you can go into Selective Color and use the "Black" slider to intensify the blacks too---that too will bring clarity where there isn't, as long as you use it gingerly. ("Levels" also brings clarity---via contrast---if used gingerly, and in small increments.) Some soft pics will come to life this way, when plain sharpening just creates too many artifacts.
