Description

Just 9 x 8 cm. Made it as a kind of "draft" for a bigger one. Must be a better name than "Draft", but I couldnt recall it. I almost never make layout or draft before I paint, but I wanted to find the right colors for background vs the foreground. I can almost not put myself together to make art again. Seems I always need a challenge, before I can come up with some art these days. Now that the Inktober is over.... I am empty again. Have a beautiful sunday/evening. Peaceful weather here. Not so cold 11C. No wind. Thanks for stopping by :)

This is very beautiful Helle:)! I love the colours and the freedom that you gave to this painting! I am with Andrea in that! I am not here since long time, but i see almost everything of everyone everyday- i am a BIG spy- and obviously of YOU! And i saw all your Inktobers drawings and they were fabulous:) But reading now, that you were feeling 'empty', i had to shout to the world...OF COURSE you are not ''empty'' dearest Helle. The art belongs to your heart and soul ! You graced us all, with your art so often and always with so much creativity! and since so long years! I wonder how is it possible, given all the troubles that you deal with and that you have to go throught ; even so, you blesses us with so much beauty and without never step back ! I bow to you in this one! And in all the others too:) Keep your nose looking up, as always you did and as i am sure that wou will, dear Helle:)))) love, ana

I'd call it a thumbnail rather than a draft, but that's just my American commercial art lingo creeping in here. Whatever you call it, it has vitality, made me smile, and I enjoyed it.

Regarding feeling empty - I think all of us creative people do from time to time. When it happens to me, I through myself into purely technical exercises as to not lose any dexterity or facility in my craft and before I know it, my subconscious is sharing ideas with me once again. Maybe you do something similar?

This is such a delight! I like the loose style. It shows off your experience, your sure hand, and your creativity. Lovely!

This is wonderful whatever you call it, Helle! I love the cheerful colors, and feeling of fun and artistic freedom to just start paining. Just delightful.

I don't have much of a problem with lack of challenge..... My Muse never sleeps, and she's always filling my head with ideas and stuff. I need to put her on decaf for a while.....

Work that served as a preliminary to a larger or more detailed piece was often called a "study." The vivid palette and the unrestrained spontaneity of your "draft" suggest that the full work will be delightful.

Mightymysterio said some good things about keeping one's hands active, when the muse has gone to sleep...and I FULLY understand what you felt, after finishing all those drawings. It's a kind of post-partum, a parting with a child, and it leaves one feeling empty.

But Ana is right: You did all that wonderful art, even when you were struggling with so many things: You haven't gone 'empty' so much as just 'feeling' empty, needing a temporary rest, as I do, as others do, and I'm sure as Ana does, too, after doing a big project. (Ana has had so much else to do in her life, she hasn't been able to feel that emptying very often; and I pray that she'll have the time to create again, to her heart's content!) I too find that keeping-up technique helps...it keeps you "in the proximity" of the inspiration, and you'll start creating again soon enough. As Ana says, your art hasn't gone anywhere, it's always in you. Maybe your art just needs rests from time to time, but it hasn't gone anywhere. She's totally right. (And she states it beautifully.)

This is a very touching study. (Draft originally meant "draw", btw, it's just what it says: A drawing, a study. contedesfees said "study" too.) Love your hues, and the free motion of the colors across the page. Love the fruits, and the light on the bottle, and the free drawing of the glass and flowers. And the broad purple-grays washes of the wall. This is a finished painting, just a fast and spontaneous one. It has real radiance. I wish I could do paintings like this. I love this, Helle.
