Description

Kargaz: “Got yourself in a right pickle now, haven’t you. Question is – how are we going to turn you back into our favourite little spellbinder? And just what sort of beetle are you, anyway?” Percival: “A scarab, Kargaz; lives in the desert; it’s a dung beetle.” K: “Well that makes sense, doesn’t it, Silvanu, considering you’ve dropped yourself right in it up to your dainty little neck. So – what can we do? Any ideas, Astrella? Percy?” P: “Honestly, Kargaz, one of these days I shall refuse to answer you until you call me by my proper name.” K: “ Do stop being such a wet, Percy, and think – think hard. This is beyond our powers, even combined. A very powerful spell like this must have left some trace. You’re good at looking into minds; can you pick up any images?” P: “ Some person connected with time, Kargaz; a soldier perhaps … No – a guardian, a Time Guard. And not from this planet.” A: “No. Time Guards are appointed by the Time Lords to watch over all devices that could disturb the smooth running of the Multiverse.” K: “So, a Time Guard changed Silvanu into this beetle?” P: “More likely the change happened when she got her hands on that Time Key she was looking for.” K: “Right. How do we get hold of that Time Guard – or anyone else in command who can help her?” A: “You’ll have to travel to the planet and seek help.” K: “Me?” P: “Well, you’ve always been her favourite, haven’t you?” A: “Maybe the Archwizard would be more suitable.” K: “What would Silvanu prefer, then, him? or me?” A: “She nodded her head when you said that; so it’s you, Kargaz. And I think I know where there is a portal you can use to get there. You’d better take her with you.”

Poor Silvanu. Fancy being turned into a beetle like that. :( (And this is such a cute-looking beetle.)

Scarab beetles are sacred creatures in Egyptian myth who push the Solar Barque into the heavens -- and as we know the passage of the sun in the sky marks the passage of time. Perhaps in this respect Silvanu can now manipulate time in certain ways. Just a thought. :)
