I love bridges since after college I worked as a draftsman for bridges and very high transmission towers. before that I had no idea just how thick the I-beams are spanned construction and just how tall/ long they are. on the way to Arkansas I seen two steel I-beam spans go by on the highway that I expected were about 150 feet long, but not as big as the company I worked for designed. I also figured shipping weights. for really long spans across large rivers were humongous in shipping weight. some that were installed within 6 miles of the plant over a large river had to have very specialized carriers to prevent road damage. they had clearance problems also going under other bridges
