At first, thank you for the nice comments and favorits to my last Image: The Fate Laughts With Pointy Teeth - Hagbard Thoraldson.
It means a lot to me!
First, the journey led to Heidabyr, today's Heitabu. There Skryrmir met with the ruling king Sigurd, who asked him for help against the Franks. Skryrmir made an alliance with him on the condition that Sigurd's son, Godrik, should take Skyrmirs daughter Sigrun as his wife.
Afterwards the journey led to the actual destination, to Holmgardr, today's Novgorod.
While Hackbard took care of the sale and a good price of stockfish, Skryrmir's attention was drawn to a spectacle. On a meadow he saw a foreign Boy, riding a small horse. Not only the riding and the little horse interested him, but his bow, with the arrows shot down, even a chainmail punched through.
A rogue who thinks evil ... Of course, Skryrmir wanted those bows for his next raids.
That's why he contacted the boy. Of course he pretended to be interested in the horses.
While Skryrmir was on fire, Hackbart was rather suspicious. He said he did not trust the Mongols, and they would carry the plague with them in tow. Skryrmir could only laugh about it. Hackbart also said that something was wrong with the boy.
The boy led the Northmen to a yurt to call his father, the horse trader Temuchin Badma.
As for the horses, they quickly came to an agreement. However, when talking about the Scythian bows, Temujin was reluctant to argue that he was not an arms dealer and knew what they were up to with these bows.
But Skryrmir did not give up and tried to persuade the horse dealer. Temujin, however, said that he had a daughter of marriageable age who would know how to make the bows. If Skryrmir marries his daughter, he would gain possession of those bows. They made an appointment for dinner ...
Hackbart doubted if that was a good idea.
Then Skryrmir said, "If she's ugly, you'll marry her!"
