Description

I took this in July 2016. It was about 3 degrees Celsius and I could barely feel my fingers. The indigenous owners of Uluru have decided to ban climbing it from October 2019 which isn't such a bad thing. Uluru is vastly prettier from ground level and damn it is hard work climbing it. My son had 3 attempts at it one day and got about 3/4's of the way up each time before he was just too scared to go further and it is scary up there. I was exhausted but then my daughter who was 6 and had been sleeping in the car woke up and saw my son and I coming down so of course she wanted to go up as well. Oh my god, not again I said but she was adamant and I am a softy so up we went again. Turns out my daughter wasn't scared so we went to the top but she did get tired. So guess who had to piggy back her all the way down so we could get down before it got dark. I slept well that night !! I do have a much bigger and better version but I suspect this one will get stolen a lot so not posting it.

Very nice shot. Great work. I do agree about it getting stolen - why not sell it on something/somewhere as a print? (I'm sure people would like it)

Uluru is an amazing place. No wonder it has huge cultural significance for the local indigenous population. We are honored that they share it with us because in Australia there are many places locked away.

This is Magnificent!!!! The perfect capture of the sun as it hits the top of the Rock. The colors are so vivid and clear. This is one of the times I wish we had the ability to give more than 5 stars. I am totally knocked out by this photo. Pat yourself on the back for the photo and the over-and-above parenting skills. That day deserves a medal.

This was an in camera 3 shot hdr. The colours there were amazing and a little hdr boost hasn't hurt it at all either :). I should probably spend a bit more time on it manually adjusting things but I get so busy I rarely get around to it.
