Description

There were four floats with veterans as part of the Veteran Days Parade in Willcox. A WW II float, sadly with only one veteran on it, a Korean War veterans float, a Vietnam veterans float, and a float for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. This is a small town and the parade was small too, but size isn't important. There were literally 1000's of parades this day all over the country and the larger the the city, the larger the parades. But in a small town like Willcox, where everybody knows each other, and everybody knows who has served and who has paid the ultimate price, it seems to be more personal and genuine. I realized that small towns like Willcox are the backbone of this country, and that there are values the average American has that one can easily forget when watching the daily news. I was the only out-of-town veteran on a float, and that was because I as an invited guest. What an honor! I am the fourth guy from the left. This picture was taken on 11 November 2017, Sig...

Good for you mate. At the time, it was a very unpopular war in Australia. Unfortunately, soldiers returned to a welcome of being spat on etc. Sad days. We now recognize Vietnam/Korean vets for what they were and are. Brave men like yourself fighting for their country and doing their duty. Thank you. Andrew.

What a wonderful honor. It sounds like they didn't have anything for Cold War veterans, though.

To imagine we are all the same age. And I sure remember the VietNam war. I wonder what memories these fellows have from it. But, as you say, being a small town, everyone knows and can help. Keep up the good work! :-)
