Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

My late father's favorite nut and ice cream. Mike has a good point. An excellent composition. I am always happy when I have an opportunity to eat the scenery.

you call these your favorite nibbles---I don't know how you stay so thin! I'm almost 70, and if I nibbled on 12 of these, I'd put on weight you could see. I mean you'd SEE it. And then it would take me most of the season to take it off. (Anything containing oil makes me a walrus. Literally. I grow tusks.) But I used to love pistachios, and this is a great shot of them: The full view really brings out their crusty, ornery interiors, and the textured, dusty, dirty look of their shells. And you photographed them pouring out to us, as from a cornucopia. Love the shot! It makes me hungry. (You didn't ask to hear this, but I also get constipated if I eat too many nuts. And besides being uncomfortable, that also helps you gain weight. Age sucks: My body posted "principles" about 5 years ago---like Luther's Theses on the Church door---and they're all edicts on what I 'can't do' anymore, and they suck. I'm presently suing. You captured these nuts just as they should look---scrumptious. I gotta move on, they're tempting me. I'll go eat some cucumber...)
