Barney:”It’s like this, Chomper - all the electrics are working again, though I’ll have to get a new radio and telly - but Annie here just won’t respond. I tried to get her working again, but she’s just stuck like you see her now.” Chomper: “We’ll have a look. Sounds like there’s a problem with the motherboard or ram.” (Opens inspection flap and looks inside.) “Rather a mess in there, Barney.” Barney: “Edgar thinks I should get a new maid and send this one for scrap - but I like this one - I’ve got used to her, and I don’t want one of the newer all bells and whistles models they’re churning out nowadays. Can you fix her?” Chomper: “When you got her the box would have included her personality chip - which you’re supposed to keep up-to-date with backups. So … did you do what was recommended? When was the last back-up? And where is the backup chip?” Barney: “Oh dear - well I have been doing the backup - must have been the beginning of this month - and the chip - where did I put that chip, Edgar?” Edgar: “In the sweetie jar on the mantelpiece, where you always put it.” Barney: “Ah, yes - so - is that all you need, Chomper?” Chomper: “That will being back your Annie as she was, Barney. First, though, I’ll have to get our James to collect Annie and sort out the internal boards.” Barney: “James? Is he an expert on robots?” Chomper: “He’s our human ‘guardian’ (we don’t say ‘owner’ nowadays, you know) and he should know all about humanoid robots, he has quite a few of them. Of course, we’re the brightest.” Barney: “I’m very grateful to you all.” Chomper: “Not at all; delighted we could be of assistance to you. James will be round later today. And we, lads, have got to go and see what we can do for Isildra.”
