Description

The Priory of Serrabonne, founded in the early eleventh century, is located in the Pyrenees-Orientales (France) on the eastern foothills of the Canigou massif, and is regarded as a masterpiece of Romanesque art. The earliest mention of the site dates back to 1069, when a parish church dedicated to the Virgin was mentioned. Thirteen years later, in 1082, a college of canons of the Augustunian order was established in the area. The thick walls of the nave are built of local schist rubble stone. The second construction was more elaborate and used large blocks of cut schist which were carefully placed.The sculptures in the cloister, the main portal, the window in the apsidole and the gallery, are all worked in pink marble, which makes a startling contrast to the green-grey of the schist.(infos wikipedia) Most infos with the next post. L'angle en plongée donne une impression particulière à cet édifice en mettant en valeur des détails qui ne se voient peut-être pas distinctement au sol. En tout cas, ce prieuré a une âme que tu as su capturer de la plus belle manière qui soit. Merci pour l'info qui va avec également, JC . C'est superbe !
