Description
After ten minutes of searching at low level, Mulk cursed under his breath. There was no sign of the troopers.
"Well, it can't be helped," Mulk muttered. "I'm going to have to gain altitude so I can use sensors."
"Ok, But that will just be screaming to the Imps that you're up there." Peenk said.
"Well I very well can't let the bastards get back to that base. Not with the kids in there. This will only take a second."
When the Mazuran reached 2000 meters, he did a single sensor sweep.
"Fierfek!"
Peenk and Seesha immediately piped in. "Are they already there?"
"Hells yes. They're still sitting outside though. I think I'll just drop in and say hello."
"Why don't you tell them about the Battle of Pahrn IV," Seesha cut in. "That'll put them right to sleep!"
"Be careful Mulk. Do you remember what happened the last time you did this? Lele had to wipe your backside for two weeks till your arms grew back."
"I'll be fine. The Force will guide me."
"Don't forget, old man, you quit that Jedi gig 350 years ago. You're a little out of practice."
"Like I said, I'll be fine. See you when we get back on board."
"Until then, may the Force be with you." Peenk said.
"You want me to get the Bacta tank ready, boss?" Lele Arner asked.
"Of course. And I hope he can keep at least one arm this time."
"You and me both."
Mulk was just starting to arm his weapons when explosions tore through several of the buildings.
"Mulk! Don't fire on that building while they are inside!" Peenk shouted over the com.
"Wasn't me! My weapons are still powered down. I think the kids left some gifts for any early returnees. Looks like they took out twelve, no, thirteen of them. I'm landing now."
"Careful old man."
"You betcha!"
With that, Mulk retracted the canopy and jumped out of the cockpit... just in time to be hit by several blaster bolts. Mulk found himself tumbling off the Stubby, and slamming into the ground. Looking around for his blaster he found that it's several meters away. Along with his right arm.
"That was a stupid move!" He growled angrily. "Oh well, nothing to be done for it." The old warrior reached for the light saber in his left boot.
"FIERFEK!!" That leg was gone as well.
Before he could do anything else, two Stormtroopers in civilian clothes came around the fighter. Reaching out with the force, Mulk snatched them off the ground and sent them flying over the building. This gave him a chance to reach out and find his leg. Pulling it to him, he snatched the saber out and ignited it. Next he willed his body to cut off blood to what was left of his arm and leg. With that done Mulk catapulted himself over the fighter, landing on his one good foot, startling the three troopers taking shelter there.
With a roar that would make a Wookiee proud, the Mazuran struck.
The first to fall to his blade was a trooper who had been caught in one of the explosions. His shirt was torn off, and his chest badly burned. As he swung his blaster up, Mulk cut him down. Next he used the force to spin around and slam his blade into anothers chest. The third was so shocked by what he saw, he turned and fled. But Mulk was in the grip of the dark side now. With a twist of his remaining hand, he used the Force to broke his neck.
At that moment two blaster bolts slammed into his chest. To the shock of the remaining soldiers, the stout green being just laughed. Using the force once again, Mulk tore a duracrete barrier from the upper floor and brought it down on top of a fourth, crushing him. Searing pain coursed up his remaining arm. Looking down he saw that his other hand and his light saber were gone.
"Well that's inconvenient!" He said with a loud laugh
With another laugh, Mulk launched himself through the blasted wall and took on the three he could see inside.
Lt Jek Marisun didn't like this mission. Picking up a group of Stormtroopers and transporting them with only his drive chief along for the ride. "This stinks of trouble. I hate covert jobs Mizzy."
"Well I tell you what." Chief Zyn Mizzy said over the intercom. "If you can find a way to turn down Moff Seergah, or any other Moff for that matter, and stay alive, you let me know."
Jek smiled. He loved Zyn's sense of humor. It was one of the few things that made his duty bearable. Once again he found himself wishing he'd done like his brother and joined the Rebels. But of course that was why he was stuck flying an Imperial freighter. The Empire were firm believers in punishing you for the crimes of your family. He went from commanding a Victory class Stardestroyer to flying a freighter. "Well, at least I didn't wind up on a prison planet."
"What are you talking about?" Zyn asked, behind him.
Jek jumped in his seat. Damn! He hadn't heard Zyn enter the control cabin.
"Nothing. Just talking to myself." Jek swore to himself. You can't let people know things like that. Not in the Empire.
"If it's about your brother, I already know," Mizzy said as he sat in the co-pilot's seat. "You talk in your sleep. When I heard the name Mek, I'll admit, I was jealous. So I did a little checking up on you and found out about your brother. I also know that you are leaning towards the Republic yourself."
Jek tensed up, waiting for the next words from Zyn. Would he agree with him, or would there be trouble?
"Oh calm down." Zyn put an arm around his shoulder. "I'm leaning the same way."
The pilot loosened his grip on the controls. Zyn's touch always did that to him. Fraternization between the lower ranks was frowned upon. That was grounds for a court martial. But when you threw in their particular kind of closeness, they'd be lucky to end up in prison. The Empire hated those who deviated from their idea of what normal was.
"Which is why I'm up here. That little slime Omall knows about us."
"What?" Jek sat upright. "How the hell did he find out?"
"It was Beeker. He let it slip the other day."
"Beeker's a good kid, but he's too trusting."
"I know I am sir."
Marisun spun his seat around. Standing behind Zyn was Mo Beeker and the other four members of the crew.
"What's going on here? Why are you here? This is supposed to be a classified mission."
"Well, after we found out that Omall sqealed, we took action to guarentee that he'd never do that again." Beeker said grinning.
Jek cocked his head to the side. "And just what action did you take?"
Zyn smirked. "Well, let's just say that he'll never do that to any one else, unless it's in the after life." The older man said, sitting in the copilots seat. "Of course you know that this means that we'll have to run to the Republic."
"It does, Zyn, it does. Now, all we have to do is set course for their space."
"Leave that to me sir." Beeker started feeding information from his data pad into the navacomputer. "We'll head for Tranta. There's a Republic base there."
"My, you're prepared aren't you?" Jek asked. "How long have you been an agent?"
"Ever since the Empire killed every living thing on my home world. But I have an additional reason to want out of the Empire." Beeker looked sheepishly behind him. "I'm afraid that I got good 2nd Lt Halverson a little pregnant."
Jek Marisun laughed. "Well I tell you what. I'm a Corellian, as you all know. And we Corellians put a high value on family," he said as he turned the ship around. "So we're going to see that the two of you get a chance to have that family."
"To your stations kiddies." the chief said. "I'm going to send Omall on ahead to finish this mission."
Kinna Banka was just beginning to press the button that would fire two concussion missiles into the freighter when a funny thing happened. The rear ventral cargo door opened and she saw a space suited figure pushing a uniformed body out into space. She could even see the expression of shock on the humans face when he saw her. But the Force though, told her to stand down. And of course, she always obeyed the Force.
Mizzy sat in the passenger seat behind the copilot. "I just saw the damnedest thing Jek. When I tossed Omall's body out into space, there was a Banshee fighter with it's missiles out just sitting there. I think it was going to take us out. But then the Cerinian pilot retracted them, and left."
"Well, let's not worry about that. We've got a new life ahead of us," Jek said as Illia Halverson sent the ship into hyperspace.
