Description

(continuation of the infos) The college was mixed because it included men and women (called converses). The apogee of the priory was short-lived: the troubles began in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries with the growing individualism of the canons (private homes instead of sharing places of common life as stipulated in the rule). Decadence then becomes unavoidable and reaches such a degree during the sixteenth century that the pope then secularizes the priory, like all those attached to the augustinian rule in Spain. Le collège était mixte, car comprenant des hommes et des femmes (qualifiées de converses).L'apogée du prieuré fut de courte durée : les troubles commencent aux XIIIe et XIVe siècles avec l'individualisme croissant des chanoines (maisons privatives au lieu de partager des lieux de vie commune comme le stipulait la règle). La décadence devient alors inéluctable et atteint un tel degré au cours du XVIe siècle que le pape sécularise alors le prieuré, comme tous ceux rattachés à la règle de Saint Augustin en Espagne. C'est réellement un édifice très imposant, toutes ces pierres encastrées les unes avec les autres et à l'époque il n'y avait pas les outils de maintenant, mais cela tient encore debout. Si il n'y avait pas eu toutes les guerres, il y en aurait davantage debout, très beau patrimoine, merci pour le partage, bon dimanche
