"You killed him," he said, looking down at Diego's body collapsed next to the altar. The woman nodded, smiling mischievously. He was suddenly filled with a mix of emotions when he realized the consequences of Diego's death. He had spent an enormous amount of wealth and favors to have Diego created as his personal bodyguard, not to mention the training costs. At the same time though, anyone capable of killing Diego would have no trouble with him. "What you have done is an act against the government of Alfheim. I am a member on the council, and have been for almost half a century!" he protested. "Do you even have any idea who I am and what I could have done to you?" "Indeed I do. Do you know who *I* am though? That is the question you should be asking yourself." In that moment he realized who she was. It had taken him a moment to piece the information together, as it had been widely rumored she was dead, killed by Helheimers in the north. He now knew this was no ordinary assassin sent by some misguided rival, this was the Queen's daughter and personal assassin, and his prospects had just become very grim. Still, he had to do what he could to preserve his own life. "There are rules. You cannot just come in here and murder me," he protested. "Actually, I can, if I saw fit," she grinned. "There will be an inquiry!" "I hope so. You do realize why I am here, no? I know all about your secret gladiatorial fights using abducted humans. Should I perhaps pull on that torch over there so you can give me a personal tour of your slave pens?" Councilman Hannity blanched. He had hoped she had not known about that part of his operation, but it seems she was rather informed. In desperation, he attempted to make a bargain. "I'll give you anything you want. Gold. Credits. Slaves Men. Women. Just name it!," he begged, knowing just how silly he sounded as the words rolled off his tongue. "I don't want anything. But the slaves below, they want justice. So here is how this will unfold. You will come down to your little game room willingly, or I will make you. There, you will face off against these humans. I do hope you've been practicing your swordplay." "That is hardly fair, I'm a politician for fuck's sake. Not some mercenary!" Sieglinde snickered, half tempted to gut the vile man where he stood for not realizing this was the same choice he had offered those poor souls. "We can do this the easy way, councilman, or the hard way. I do love me some hard way though, so by all means, feel free to choose that."
