Description
Eurydice was an oak nymph and the wife of the legendary musician Orpheus. On her death, Orpheus’ lament was so moving that the Gods permitted him to travel to the underworld to rescue his love, on the condition that he lead her forth without ever looking back. As he exited the gates of hades, he glanced over his shoulder to see that she was there, but Eurydice, not having yet passed the threshold, was drawn back and condemned to a second death…
