Description

Hi. Thought i'd have a crack at 3D modelling. This is my first model, which has come out ok but has a few issues. Any advice would be appreciated. In particular; - I've tried using bump and displacement maps, but i can't get the text on the tyre wall to pop out a little. I've created a bump map with the tyre wall pure black and the text pure white. I've set the minimum value for bump and displacement to 0 and the maximum value to 1. I've tried various values of bump and displacement strength, both combined and individually, but nothing seems to affect the height of the text. If i go too high on the bump and displacement values the tyre wall seems to distort and the tyre explodes. - I've used a transparency map to create the holes in the rim. Is it more efficient to create the voids by modelling the holes or are transparency maps the best way to create this type of feature. I've read that you should try to keep your scenes below 250k polygons, but i've also read that transparency maps are resource heavy and increase render times. Thanks in advance for your help.

What software are you using? I am trying to learn Hexagon and haven't gotten very far.
