Degro Serro was talking to his fellow Moff, Veru Panaka, when the ranking member of the Council Of Moffs, Gith Seergah, strode up to them. The tall Seergah glanced with distaste at the uniform the shortest member of the Council wore.
"Why are you wearing a Stormtrooper uniform?" He asked derisively.
"Why not?" The shaven headed man asked him with a smile. "I was a Stormtrooper for ten years. Besides, my wife says I look hot in it," Seergah just shook his head.
"Pellaeon has told us that the 2nd Fleet leaves in three hours," Seergah told the two. "It'll takes three days to get to this wormhole. So in three days, this threat should be ended."
"The threat from this Federation," Panaka cut in. "But don't forget that we still have nine hundred of these girls from the soldier class Project running around. And about one hundred fifty of them have had more children. And that's on top of the two hundred eight children and two adults that we have at that lab."
"And let's not forget these Generals," Seergah added. "I'm sure you two have seen the holo of the attempt some slavers made to kidnap three of these girls. That little one caving in a Zolinite's skull was very impressive."
"She certainly put her out of her misery," Panaka said with a laugh. "What a humanitarian."
"Speaking of humanitarian, what's the word on Folous?" The tall man asked Serro.
"The plague has killed about ten percent of the population. But Admiral Messet has the planet shut down tight," Serro answered.
"And the cure?"
"The doctor I hired on Coruscant has already developed the cure, and is passing it on to several smugglers to get it past the Republic's blockade of the Vannua Sector. With any luck, we can start administering the drug in two days."
"Good," Seergah told them, clearly worried. "This is the forth plague to hit an Imperial world in the last year. The other three were weak ones. But this one is much worse. We all know the Republic would never use biological warfare against us."
"Which leaves a third party out there," Panaka said, shaking his head. "But who?"
"It could be anyone," Degro replied. "The Empire has many enemies. Not all are as nice as the Republic!" At that moment, his comlink chimed. Going off to the side, he talked for a few minutes before ending the call.
"That was my wife," Serro said as she rejoine the other. "Admilla said that we will have no trouble contacting this Joshua Kirk for a translation of that intercepted message. The Federation has told the Republic that they and the Klingon and Romulan Empires are going to ask him to be their ambassador. At least, until they can send their own people. And that he will be meeting our representative also."
"Well hopefully, that will not happen," Seergah said and walked away. When he was far enough away, Panaka grinned.
"So is it true that his latest wife has left him, Degro?"
"Yes. The fifth Mrs Seergah has left the planet, and is on her way to her families home on Corellia."
"And he hasn't tried to stop her?"
"Oh, yes!" Degro said with a sly smile. "He's sent out a couple of Interdictors to try and intercept her," Serro now grinned back. "Only, he think's she's heading for his sector capitol of Burlyn."
"Did you have your people feed him false information?" Panaka glanced over to Seergah.
"Damn right!" The short man said angrily, the grin now gone. "The last Mrs Seergah was found floating on a beach here. I'm not going to allow him to kill yet another. Not on one of my worlds."
Tra'awuno'laro entered the building where her boss, Zakariah Cronda, told her that she would find their next customer. Inside, she saw three crates and two very vicious looking battle droids of a type she'd never seen before. Laro glanced at them and stopped up short. She stared at the two machines to be sure her eyes were not playing tricks on her.
"Yes," A man's voice said behind her. "Their armor is indeed covered in leather."
The Chiss smuggler turned as a Near Human came through a door, a lab of some sort could be seen behind him. She'd never seen his type before. But that was a common thing in a galaxy as large as this one. She was used to such rections herself, being Chiss.
"You must be Tra'awuno'laro," He said, bowing slightly. "Zakariah thinks very highly of you. He said you have the fastest ship of all the beings who work for him."
"It's my partner's ship," The woman said. "I'm just the pilot. And let me congratulate you on pronouncing my name correctly. Do you speak Chiss?"
"No, I'm just good with names," The man told her. "And before you ask, they're covered in leather because everyone looks better in leather," Laro smiled at this. She found herself being drawn to this man already.
"I'll take your word for that," She said as stared at this man. "My boss said you had something that needs to be delivered?"
"Yes. These three crates need to go to Folous, in the Vannua sector."
"No!" The blue skinned woman said emphatically. "I'm not going to any planet where a plague is raging!"
"You will not be going to the planet itself," He told her soothingly. "You'll be meeting up with a stardestroyer, the Drakken. They will be taking the medicine. All I ask is that you get it to them."
"So this is a cure for the plague?"
"Yes. And I'll tell you what I told the other crews," He said. "If you can get this to Folous in thirty six hours or less, there's an additional twenty five thousand in it for you."
"But what if these others get there before me?"
"It doesn't matter!" He told her emphatically. "If all of you get it to them in the alotted time, then all of you will recieve twenty five thousand. This medicine needs to get there as quickly as possible."
"Very well then," Laro said. "We'll leave as soon as I get back to the Bad Girl," The woman then stared at the man for several seconds.
"What?" He asked uncomfortably.
"I'm waiting for your name."
"Tra'awuno'laro, my dear!" He quickly said. "Please, excuse my lack of manners. My name is Gath Pok. But just call me Gath."
"Then call me Laro."
"Well Laro my dear," Pok said as he smiled at the Chiss. "Where did you get that top?"
"What, this?" She asked as she glanced down at her top. "I bought it at the House of Peenk in the Government District. Why?"
"I'm wondering you have any idea what it says."
"No idea," Laro told the man. "Not even the shop employees knew what it said. They just said it's from some ancient language."
"No, it is not ancient," The man said as he smiled. "And it's a good thing for you that no more than a handful of people in this galaxy can read it."
"What does it say?" She asked, knowing she probably would not like what she heard. Pok smiled and told her. "And I've been waring this thing everywhere!"
"Like I said," Pok replied with a laugh. "Only a handful of people can read it."
"Well, I have to go," She said as she turned for the door, the battle droids already holding the crates of medicine. When the door opened she looked back over her shoulder at Pok. "Well, what's your verdict?"
"While the view is outstanding," He said as he smiled at Laro. "I prefer the front, because it makes it easier to see your face."
"Good answer," She said. "I'll see you when we return."
"Cronda will have your money, no need to return here."
"I know he'll have my money," Laro said as she turned about, crossing her arms. "I'm talking about just visiting you, not business."
"Well then let me give you my contact information," Pok said. "I'm not always here. And I'm looking forward to your safe return."
